Hard Drive Not Detected
A client requested recovery of a photo archive from a hard drive that wasn’t detected and made clicking sounds, suggesting a read/write head failure. The drive showed no platter damage but had service area issues.
Seagate Drive – Head Replacement
A Seagate ST3320620AS donor drive was used for head replacement. After the swap, the drive still wouldn’t initialize due to service area problems. The engineer fixed the issue by loading an LDR file and repairing a module responsible for initialization.
Data Recovery with PC-3000
Using PC-3000 tool, the data was copied. Although about 7% of the data was damaged, the full photo archive was recovered.
